Title: Is the JWST real
Post by: and04 on 19 July, 2023, 08:18:09 AM
That's basically it, is the James Web Space Telescope (JWST) real?  Images of it don't seem real imho, whether on the major TV news channels over recent weeks or in SE image results.  They look like they're created using graphics software. :-X

Yeah they do, but I think they're supposed to be representations of the real thing.

I believe NASA released various photos of the actual JWST in its construction stages.  By the way, @and04, it's Webb and not Web.  Here's a link about JWST (https://www.nasa.gov/mission_pages/webb/main/index.html).  Click on the video link 'DESIGNING WEBB'.  An actual image of it can be seen at 6:16 into the video.

Some of the images broadcasted recently are CGI, but the JWST is certainly real.
