Title: Started an old Apple Mac SE/30 for first time in ages
Post by: and04 on 20 June, 2023, 09:54:50 AM
So it started up ok few days ago, but hard drive is not running, can't hear it going.
Managed to find a System 7.5 start-up disk though and I can get to the desktop, only very, very slowly.  Is there a way to check if HD is running and can you get scsi HDs anymore?

Don't no much about apple macs so can't be of much help there, but you can still get scsi drives - link here > (https://www.google.com/search?client=opera&hs=tRc&q=scsi+drives&tbm=shop&sa=X&ved=2ahUKEwj6sbytzNH_AhUEUsAKHdvqBrYQ0pQJegQICRAB&biw=1496&bih=754&dpr=1.25"")

Great! Thanks for the link info, didn't think of googling scsi drives tbh.

At least now you'll be able to source one and connect it up, then install the os onto it.

There's something here for installing System 7.5.5 (https://retrocomputing.stackexchange.com/questions/8025/how-to-install-system-7-5-5-on-a-macintosh-se-30-using-floppies) on a Mac SE/30

They were very good systems for their time, came out in the very late 80s iirc.  If it was in good working order he may have got a fair bit for it.

Very collectable if in working order and good condition.
