As the title says, how do I effectively waterproof my shoes and boots so that it lasts, most I can ever get with offf the shelf polish and liquid brush-on stuff is a few days - it rains a lot where I am near Boscome.

Hi cybernut! You can get spray-on and brush-on wax in most high street hardware stores. Hope that helps.

I use the same stuff they coat some cookware with. Teflon!
-
Yes, Teflon! I think that's available as brush-on and spray-on.

Thanks everyone for your great advice! I'm now confident that I can get something that will make my footwear more waterproof. ;)

Teflon's OK but might give all your shoes and boots etc a dark grey colour? :P Wax sounds better to me imho.

This would be my concern as well. My 'Yes, Teflon!' was deliberate sarchasm at A.Jenery's suggestion :P , although I suppose Teflom may come in different shades of grey. Generally I'd say brush-on or spray-on wax.
