Title: Which 3D modelling software should I go with
Post by: ATH019 on 09 May, 2019, 10:37:02 AM
This isn't to do with 3D modelling and rendering services as such, so sorry if this is the wrong forum.  Basically I'm doing a computer graphics design course and one of the tasks is to produce 3D models and I'm wondering which software I should use.  Have looked briefly at Blender, Maya and 3Ds Max but can't decide which one, so suggestions needed.
I'm not a computer graphics expert in any sense (still learning through this course...), so simple terms appreciated.  Thanks!

In my experience Blender is the easiest to use however 3Ds Max is more comprehensive and is an industry standard.  I've used it a lot and you can even get a free version if you're studying by visiting Autodesk's website.  Hope this helps.

Never used blender just the other two.  2Ds Max is slightly easier to learn than Maya imho, but Maya has more special effects for certain things anyway.

Free version of blender is what I used when starting out in 3d modelling, then I switched to max.

Thanks everyone for your responses.  I think I'll go with 3Ds.  Did some SE queries and it's true, there is a free student version :)

Yep free student version is a plus but max is a big prog w' lots to it.  Blender's easier also free.
