Dunno.The first image on the right in the wikipedia article is just the top part of it that's been rotated to the left, if you look at the fourth image further down you'll see the pillars aren't going 'upwards' at all.
It looks spooky which ever way round it is. Where does all the dust come from.
If it isn't, then what is it? Another question that comes to mind is which came from which? Did stars come from the dust or did the dust come from the stars?
