OK, the so-called Pillars Of Creation in the Eagle Nebula is approximately 6,500 light years away from us (image on Wikipedia).  That means it takes light 6,500 years to reach us from there.  At that distance, the height and width of the pillars must be in the order of at least hundreds, maybe thousands of light years.  That would mean that each particle of 'dust and gas' must be the size of Jupiter!  These Pillars Of Creation would consist of millions of Jupiter-sized particles all coinciding with each other!  Just a thought or two.

Sounds sarcastic to me.  I think what A.Jenery is suggesting is a very good argument.  How could millions of Jupiter's coexist together?

I wasn't being sarcastic, sorry!  I actually agree with much of what he says, however there is a good chance that millions of Jupiter's could exist together.  Space is a big place!

Not to mention many millions of smaller planet-sized, moon-sized, asteroid sized....   Right down to atoms.  Much of it might not exist any more though. :-X
